Why assess both together

Autism and ADHD overlap, and each can hide the other. Assessed separately, each answer is reached without the other in view. Assessed together, your history is taken once and both questions are answered in the same report.

What is involved

Questionnaires covering both, completed before your first appointment.
One developmental and clinical interview.
Information from someone who knew you as a child, where possible.
Structured autism and ADHD measures where they add something.
Other explanations considered: anxiety, low mood, trauma, sleep.
One report, one feedback appointment.

Timing, insurance and tax relief

The combined assessment is normally completed within 8–10 weeks, provided questionnaires and supporting information are returned promptly. Some health-insurance plans include a benefit for adult neurodevelopmental assessment, and qualifying expenses may be eligible for income-tax relief at the standard rate. Cover and Revenue eligibility vary. An itemised receipt with Dr De Búrca's PSI details will be provided; check your insurer and Revenue's current requirements before starting.
