What is involved

Questionnaires
Background information and standard adult ADHD measures, completed before your first appointment.

Clinical and developmental interview
Symptoms in childhood and now, work or study, relationships, and how you have coped.

Information from others
From someone who knew you as a child, and school records where available.

Other explanations
Anxiety, low mood, trauma, sleep, substance use and autism are each considered in their own right.

Report and feedback
A full written report, then an appointment to go through it with you.

Timing, insurance and tax relief

The assessment is normally completed within 8–10 weeks, provided questionnaires and supporting information are returned promptly. Some health-insurance plans include a benefit for adult neurodevelopmental assessment, and qualifying expenses may be eligible for income-tax relief at the standard rate. Cover and Revenue eligibility vary. An itemised receipt with Dr De Búrca's PSI details will be provided; check your insurer and Revenue's current requirements before starting.
