Dr De Búrca is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and Chartered Member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI). He trained in clinical psychology at the University of Oxford and holds an MSc in Forensic Psychology from the University of Kent, awarded with distinction. He has worked as a Clinical Psychologist since 2014.
His clinical work has centred on assessment: trauma, neurodevelopmental presentations, mental health and risk, often where several explanations are in play at once. He has led multidisciplinary clinical services, and holds a senior leadership role in the not-for-profit sector.
He lectures on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College Cork and the Doctorate in Educational Psychology at Mary Immaculate College.
